Yes. We now have enough to draft a much stronger, build-accurate Cookie Policy.
ICO guidance is clear that PECR covers not just cookies but similar technologies too, including local storage, scripts and tags. It also expects clear information about what is used and why, and valid consent for non-essential technologies. Consent must be as easy to withdraw as it is to give.
Who we are
Talent Signal is the trading name of Robert Prince, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. This Cookie Policy explains how the Talent Signal website uses cookies and similar technologies.
What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies can also store or access information on your device, including local storage, scripts and tags.
For simplicity, when we refer to cookies in this policy, we also mean similar technologies where relevant.
How we use cookies and similar technologies
The website currently uses three categories of cookie or similar-technology activity:
- Necessary
- Analytics
- Live chat
These categories are reflected in the cookie preferences controls available on the site.
Necessary
Necessary technologies are used to help the site function properly and to remember your preferences.
In the current build, this includes:
- Consent preferences stored in local storage under the key ts.consent.v1, which records your cookie choices and the time of your decision
- Browser storage used for admin session persistence for logged-in admin users
Necessary technologies are always active because the site depends on them for core functionality. The cookie preferences control does not allow these to be turned off.
Analytics
If you choose to allow analytics, the site loads Google Analytics 4.
Google Analytics 4 is used to understand how people use the site and to measure key interactions, such as:
- contact form submissions
- employer enquiry submissions
- CV submissions
- job application submissions
Google Analytics 4 only loads after you give analytics consent through the site’s cookie controls. Once loaded, Google may set its own cookies or identifiers.
The site does not use analytics for advertising through the current implementation.
Live chat
If you choose to allow live chat, the site loads Tawk.to so that live chat can be used.
Tawk.to only loads after you give chat consent through the site’s cookie controls. Once loaded, Tawk.to may set its own cookies or identifiers to manage the chat session and related functionality.
Other third-party requests
The site also uses Google-hosted fonts to display the website properly. These requests are separate from the analytics and live chat consent categories.
Your choices
You can update your cookie preferences at any time using the Cookie preferences option in the footer.
If you withdraw consent:
- the site will stop loading optional analytics or live chat technologies on future visits unless you enable them again
- app-side analytics event tracking will no longer run where consent is not present
However, the current build does not actively remove third-party scripts that have already loaded during your current session, and it does not automatically delete third-party cookies or identifiers that may already have been set. Those may remain until they expire or until you clear them through your browser settings.
Do we use our own analytics or marketing cookies directly?
No app-defined analytics or marketing cookies were identified in the current site code.
Optional analytics and chat technologies are provided through third-party services that only load after consent.
International processing
Optional services such as Google Analytics 4 and Tawk.to may involve processing outside the UK once they are enabled.
